History :
During his stay at the Villa Abd-el-Tif in Algiers with Léon Cauvy, Jouve worked on the illustrations of the Jungle Book, in particular the portrait of Mowgly, which was used with the same floral decoration and exactly transcribed in one of the plates of the book, outside the text. When the book was finished, Jouve kept this drawing in his studio.
